“The Search for Planet 9” with Richard Luecke

September 8, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Far beyond the orbit of Neptune, in the frigid realm of the Kuiper Belt, an undiscovered planet 10 times more massive than the Earth and 250 times farther from the Sun may be lurking. And the race to find it is heating up. Astro officialdom dropped Pluto from its list of planets in 2006; researchers at CalTech have revealed evidence for a possible replacement.

This image-enhanced presentation by amateur astronomer Richard Luecke will reveal the latest details on the search for Planet 9. It will include a brief history of planetary discovery over the centuries, from Uranus to Neptune and Pluto. Will Planet 9 join the list in 2018?
