Star Dome: “Our Family in the Sky”

Northern Stars Planetarium brings the stars inside. The big dome will be set up inside the Jesup Memorial Library. The planets are personified as Mr. Sun guides the children through a tour of the Solar System. Includes planets, comets, asteroids, the Moon, and a
constellation.

Suitable for children K-2 grade. Adults welcome

Limited to 55 participants.

Important Note: Once the show begins, it is not possible to admit anyone else to the dome.

John Meader began his planetarium career as a student operator in 1979 at the University of Maine’s Jordan Planetarium. He also taught Observational Astronomy classes at the University of Maine at Orono, the University of Maine at Presque Isle and Loring Air Force Base. In 1983 he became the Planetarium Director of the Francis Malcolm Center in Easton, Maine. He founded Northern Stars Planetarium in 1987. In 2004 he participated in the “American Planetarian in Italy” event, teaching astronomy to Italian high school students in Brescia. He is a Fellow of the International Planetarium Society and is the Archivist/Historian of the Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society. Born and raised in central Maine, John graduated from the University of Maine in 1982. He and his wife Laura live in Fairfield, Maine. John has three children.
