“It’s a Big Universe. Where Do We Fit In?” with Richard Luecke

September 28, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Since ancient times, people have looked to the sun, the moon, the planets and the stars trying to answer these questions: “How big is the cosmos?” and “Where do we fit in?”

Astronomy volunteer Richard Luecke will explain how people have answered those questions, and how their answers have changed over the centuries (and continue to change as technology and scientific inquiry improve our perceptions of the cosmos).

So come along on an image-enhanced journey from our familiar solar system, into our 200+ billion star Milky Way and beyond it to the edge of the visible universe, 13.8 light-years away in every direction.
